This is a self-assessment: it scores what you tell us. Our paid Health Check verifies it against your actual environment with a read-only scan.
We do not store your answers. The score is worked out in your browser, and nothing reaches us unless you ask us to email the result to you.

80 and above: In good shape. 60 to 79: Solid, with gaps. 40 to 59: Exposed in places. Below 40: At risk.
How this score is calculated
Each answer scores 0 to 4. Each area is scored against its own maximum first, so an area with one question counts the same as an area with five. The area percentages are then combined with these weights: . Recovery weighs most because it decides what an incident costs you.
“Not sure” scores 1 out of 4 on every question. Not knowing is a finding, but we do not score it as hard as a known gap. An area where you were unsure about every question shows as “Not known” and still counts 1 out of 4 towards the total. If you were unsure on more than half the questions, we do not show a score at all.
Three answers cap the band whatever else you score: never having tested a restore, having nothing specific protecting your most critical workload, and keeping every backup copy where the database server can reach it.
The version ladder scores how much supported life is left and how far behind current a release is, not age on its own.
Security and access is covered by one question here. Treat it as a screen, not an assessment.
One question, where your estate runs, is not scored at all. It tells us how to read the rest.
This is not a comparison with other organisations. We will add that only if we ever have enough completions to do it honestly.

6 more questions, about a minute. They cover recovery time, high availability, your instance inventory, licence and tier fit, knowledge risk, and how database changes reach production. Your answers so far are kept. They widen the check rather than repeat it, so every area rests on more than one answer.

When you want this checked against the environment itself
This check scores what you tell us. The Masterminds Health Check reads the estate itself, read-only, benchmarks it against Microsoft best practice and turns the findings into a plan your team owns, kept live in our Cortex portal.
